The New York Jets have claimed their first win of the season over the Tennesse Titans in a 24-17 nail-biter of a game.
The Jets offense had some on-and-off moments but the Jets running backs were the ones who commanded the most this game. Braelon Allen had 33 rushing yards, 23 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, and the game-winning rushing touchdown. Breece Hall had himself a day as well, rushing for 62 yards, 52 receiving yards, and 1 receiving touchdown.Â
Aaron Rodgers earned his first win as a Jet, passing for 176 yards, 2 touchdowns, and completing 18 of 30 passing attempts. Overall his performance was decent but at some points, Rodgers passes seemed too low and his pocket presence was very weak. However, his connection with Garrett Wilson was strong again, Wilson had 4 receptions for 57 yards.
The Jets defense like the offense had a lot of on-and-off moments but their day was mostly good. The Jets combined for 4 sacks for 22 yards with 2nd-year edge rushing out of Iowa State Will McDonald IV having 3 of the 4 sacks. In the 2nd quarter, CJ Mosley left the game when he hurt his foot and was carted off the field but in the rest of the game, Jamein Sherwood stepped up big time having 12 total tackles. Another key player injured was pro-bowler Jermaine Johnson II who suffered a fear torn Achilles, now the Jets edge rushers are very slim as they now have Jermaine Johnson II possibly out of the year and Hasson Reddick still holding out.
The Jets have now completed a short 2 week road trip to start the season and now they are going back home for their home opener on Thursday against the Patriots.
