September 4, 2024
The Jets season is almost here, so these are my game-by-game predictions:
Week 1: at 49ers
Jets 24, 49ers 30
This is a respectable loss from the Jets. It may take some time for Aaron Rodgers and the offense to ramp up and the 49ers are a tough team to start the season against but the goal here is to get Aaron Rodgers out of here healthy.
Week 2: at Titans
Jets 33, Titans 16
The Titans have an underrated roster with Will Levis, Calvin Ridley, Tyler Boyd, Tony Pollard, and DeAndre Hopkins at offense but until Will Levis proves he can be the starting QB for this team I don’t know what they will look like. This is going to be a very comfortable win for the Jets and prove to people what the Jets will look like this year.
Week 3: vs Patriots
Jets 34, Patriots 7
For the home opener and Aaron Rodgers return to Metlife after his injury this could be a no-brainer that the Jets win this game. I think this game the Jets offense with struggle early against the Patriots defense but by the 4th or 5th drive, they will pick things up and win big. And for the defense, they will dominate all game.
Week 4: vs Broncos
Jets 27, Broncos 12
This is a game the Jets should dominate, the Broncos have one of the worst rosters in the NFL and they will traveling cross-country so this will be an easy game for the Jets. I think the Jets offense continues to look like a top 10 offense and the defense will put Broncos rookie Bo Nix through a very tough game.
Week 5: at Vikings (London)
Jets 21, Vikings 20
The Jets are facing former Jets QB Sam Darnold in a London showdown. I think this game could be an overlooked game on the Jets schedule, first off they are traveling to another continent and the Jets will be looking forward to their next game vs the Bills. I think the Jets offense looks sloppy at times but they still get the win in a nail-biter.
Week 6: vs Bills
Jets 20, Bills 29
The Jets hot streaks end in a loss to the Bills on Monday night. This game will be one that the Jets just struggle and lose. Josh Allen will look great in this game and the Jets won’t be able to keep up.
Week 7: at Steelers
Jets 17, Steelers 14
Expect a huge defensive battle between 2 of the best defenses in the NFL. Despite the Steelers defense playing a huge game, I think the Jets offense will just pull this one out.
Week 8: at Patriots
Jets 18, Patriots 24
Historically, the Jets do not play well in New England at all, and I think the offense will struggle this game and ultimately lead to a loss for the Jets.
Week 9: vs Texans:
Jets 41, Texans 37
This game is going to be an absolute shootout between the Texans and the Jets on Halloween. The Jets offense will get hot like they did in the 2023 match-up and CJ Stroud will play like a top 3 MVP candidate which I think he is for the Texans. I have the Jets edging the Texans out by 4 points because of Aaron Rodgers clutch performances in his career. Nonetheless, this game can go both ways.
Week 10: at Cardinals
Jets 31, Cardinals 18
The Jets will have plenty of rest coming off a Thursday Night game to prepare for Arizona and I think that it will pay off. The Cardinals have an interesting team and have a bright future with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Kyler Murray but they aren’t ready to take the next big step.
Week 11: vs Colts
Jets 24, Colts 27 (OT)
Do I think the Jets are capable of beating the Colts any day? Yes. Will they beat them here? No. The Jets will be entering this game on Sunday Night football coming off 10 straight weeks of big primetime games, a west coast game, a London trip, and huge late games and I think the Jets will struggle this game just based on them being tired. The Colts are also shaping up to have a decent offense with Michael Pittman Jr., Anthony Richardson, Jonathan Taylor, and Josh Downs so that should not be overlooked as well.
Week 12: Bye Week
Record: 7-4
Week 13: vs Seahawks
Jets 38, Seahawks 16
I do expect the Seahawks to be a competitive team this year but with the Jets coming off a bye week I think they will dominate the Seahawks. Even though it says the Jets will score 38 points I think the defense will do a lot of that, Geno Smith can be shaky at times and that O-line is weak, so I think that that offense won’t be a match for the Jets defense.
Week 14: at Dolphins
Jets 26, Dolphins 31
The Dolphins will have such an explosive offense this year with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Tua Tagovailoa, Devon Achane, and Raheem Moester and I think in the first match-up against the Dolphins the Jets defense will struggle like we saw last year against the Dolphins on both occasions.
Week 15: at Jaguars
Jets 23, Jaguars 16
The Jets are staying in sunny Florida to take on the Jaguars in Jacksonville. I think the Jets win this game and just get by Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars offense.
Week 16: vs Rams
Jets 21, Rams 19
This game is going to come down to the wire but I think the Jets pull this off because the Rams could be starting slow, they will be traveling from the West Coast in December and be playing at 1 PM EST which would be 10 AM PST. The Rams have a very strong offense which is led by Head Coach Sean McVay and QB Matthew Stafford but I think they will struggle against this Jets offense
Week 17: at Bills
Jets 22, Bills 21
This could be an upset for the Jets as they head up to Buffalo in December to take on the Bills. I have the Jets splitting with the division rival after losing in week 6 at home, this game will go a long way in deciding who wins the AFC East.
Week 18: vs Dolphins
Jets 30, Dolphins 17
This game will be the game of the season for the Jets and the Dolphins, at this point in the season I think whoever wins this game wins the AFC East and the 3 seed. The Dolphins have been known to play terribly in the cold and I think this continues with a terrible loss to the Jets. Also, don’t be surprised if this game gets flexed to Sunday Night Football due to the stakes.
Final record prediction: 12-5, AFC East Winners, No. 3 seed in the Playoffs
I think the AFC final playoff standings will go:
Chiefs: 13-4
Ravens: 13-4
Jets: 12-5
Jaguars 10-7
Dolphins: 11-6
Bengals: 10-7
Bills: 9-8
