After one year there, he was hired as an assistant GM in 2022 and has served ever since.
Lance Newmark
Lance Newmark serves as the Commanders' assistant GM and has overseen the scouting department since joining Washington in 2024. Before joining the Commanders, he worked with the Detroit Lions for 26 years and the Chargers for 2 years in San Diego. In his 1 year as assistant GM, he helped scout QB Jayden Daniels, the Commanders 1st round pick who is one of the OROY runners.
Trey Brown
The Bengals Senior personnel executive was the 11th candidate the Jets interviewed. From 2010 to 2018 he worked in the Patriots and Eagles scouting departments before working working in the XFL for 2 years then coming back to the NFL in 2021 to become a scout for the Bengals. After 1 year as scout, he was hired to be the team’s Senior personnel executive where he has held the position since 2022.
Chris Spielman
Spielman has only served 1 position in an NFL front office and that is being the Special Assistant to the owner and CEO where he has served since 2020.
Ryan Grigson
The most recent candidate the Jets interviewed was Ryan Grigson, the Senior Vice President of Player Personnel of the Vikings. Grigson brings a lot of experience with him working with 7 different teams and holding many different positions. From the start of his NFL career, he worked in the scouting department until 2012 when he was hired as the Colts GM where he held that position until 2016. In his time as GM, the Colts went 49-31 and he drafted good players like Andrew Luck, TY Hiltons, Phillip Dorsett, and Ryan Kelly. After getting fired in 2016 he jumped around a couple of teams until he landed with the Vikings as Senior Vice President of Player Personnel where he has served since 2022.
The Jets are now up to 13 interviews complete for the GM position.
