On January 7th the Jets added one more interview request to their already lengthy interview request list and have completed one interview
The Jets have requested Darren Rizzi who was the Saints interim head coach after they fired Dennis Allen after week 9 of this year. In 8 games as head coach Rizzi commanded the Saints to a 3-5 record which led them to finishing the year 5-12.
Before becoming interim head coach Darren Rizzi served as coach on the special teams. Rizzi Started his NFL coaching career at Miami in 2009 as the assistant special teams coach, then in 2010, he was promoted to special teams coordinator where he served until 2018 while being associate head coach in 2017 and 2018. After the 2018 season, Rizzi then left for New Orleans to become special teams coordinator where he served from 2019 to 2024 with being assistant head coach in 2022, 2023, and half of 2024 before he became head coach.
The Jets have also completed their interview with former head coach Rex Ryan, the team announced.
Rex Ryan joins Mike Vrabel and Ron Rivera as completed interviews.
As of now, the Jets have 3 completed interviews and have submitted 10 interview requests.
