After a terrible 2023 Jets season, Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are ready to take flight for 2024.
The big guy of the Jets offense and the player that will dictate how the 2024 season looks, is QB Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is coming off an Achilles tear, but in the 2024 training camp, A-Rod has been a hot rod, showing why he is still on his A-game even at age 40. Continuing on the offense, the Jets rebuilt their entire O-line in the offseason, by drafter former All-Pro Tyron Smith, signing John Simpson, trading for former Jet Morgan Moses, and drafting Olu Fashanu who will all go along with Alijah Vera-Tucker and Joe Tippmann.
The pass catchers for the Jets run deep, and the Jets main target will be third-year receiver, Garrett Wilson. For the past 2 years, Wilson has been the star of the offense having back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons in his first 2 seasons, becoming the only Jet to do that. Other pass catchers for the Jets to look out for are, Mike Williams who signed a 1 year $10 million deal in the offseason, rookie Malachi Corley, 2nd-year UDFA Xavier Gipson, and former Aaron Rodgers teammate entering his second year with the Jets Allen Lazard.
The player who I think will have the best season on the Jets offense and the running back for the Jets is Breece Hall. In 2023 Breece Hall was ranked the 2nd best runningback by NFL executives after having a 994 yard and 5 touchdown rushing season. Hall was also utilized heavily in the passing game as he had 76 receptions, 591 receiving yards, and 4 touchdowns. His 591 receiving yards led the NFL in running back recurring yards.
The Jets defense is ready to look the same after having the 3rd ranked total defense in 2023. The Jets ability to get after the quarterback relies on interior All-Pro Quinnen Williams, Pro-Bowler Jermaine Johnson II, and Haason Reddick when he reports. The Jets “D” will feature the best linebacker duo headlined by 2 all-pro players, CJ Mosley and Quincy Williams. Extending on the defense, the Jets also have the best secondary in the NFL with 2x All-Pro Sauce Gaurdner, PFF’s 17th ranked defender DJ Reed, and the best slot CB in the league Michael Carter II.
On the Special teams, the Jets have 2 core players, punter Thomas Morstead and kicker Greg Zuerlein. In 2023, Morstead had 36.4% of his punts land inside the 20 and led the league in punts with 99 and punt yards with 4,831. For kicker Greg Zuerlein, had 4 game-winning/tying field goals, converted on 92.1% field goals, and hit 5 of 6 field goals from 50 yards and beyond.
The 2024 Jets are bound to make strides and succeed this upcoming season.
