After a long disappointing season, the 4-12 Jets will face the 8-8 Miami Dolphins to close the season at home.
The Dolphins offense will be playing without their starting QB Tua Tagovailoa for the second straight week, and to fill in for his spot will be Tyler Huntley who went 22/26, 225 yards, and 1 touchdown last week in a win over the Clevland Browns.
“Huntley can absolutely run this offense at a high level.”
“I think regardless of who is the quarterback we are going to face the same schematically, the real difference is Huntley's mobility, he is a scrambler, he’ll get first downs with his legs and we have to account for that,” said Head Coach Jeff Ulbrich
And for the Dolphins defense, they have allowed the 3rd least yards per game with 310.6, and the 9th least amount of passing yards and rushing yards. In the win over Clevland last week the Dolphins allowed 0 touchdowns, 276 total yards, and turned the ball over 2 times.
For the Jets and their offense, this could be the end of an era with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the future beyond Sunday is not known but for this Sunday Rodgers will be looking to throw his 500th career touchdown and become the first QB since Ryan Fitzpatrick to start all the regular season games for the Jets.
“It has been an interesting year for in a lot of ways, a lot of really special things the past year and a half, a lot of trying times as well.”
“But thankful to be healthy, thankful for the guys and the way they made me feel welcome the way I came in last year, thankful for the fans and the excitement that I felt both last year and this year,” said Rodgers on his emotions heading into what could be his final start in the New York.
The Defense of the Jets will be playing without cornerback Sauce Gardner and will look to rebound after a terrible showing vs the Bills last week. In the loss vs the Bills, the Jets defense gave up 348 yards, 40 points, had 0 sacks, and forced no turnovers.
The Jets are underdogs in this matchup by 2.5 points with the moneyline being set at +118.
The season finale kickoff is set for 4:25 at Metlife Stadium.
