This past week the Mets continued their free agency by resigning Jesse Winker and singing Braves reliever A.J. Minter.
The Mets brought back outfielder/designated hitter Jesse Winker on a 1 year $7.5 million deal with a $1 million signing bonus.
New York traded for Winker on the trade deadline from the Nationals. In 44 games played with the Mets Winker batted .243 with 3 home runs and 13 RBIs. In the postseason the left-hander came alive batting .318 with 7 hits, a home run, and 4 RBIs in 10 games.
The second player the Mets brought in was longtime Braves left-handed reliever to a 2-year $22 million contract.
Since joining the league in 2017 Minter has been one of the better relievers, posting a career 3.28 ERA, 10.9 K/9, and a 1.196 WHIP. In 2024 the 31-year-old had a .556 win percentage, 2.62 ERA, 1.019 WHIP, and 9.2 K/9 on 34.1 innings pitched. In his postseason career, Minter has appeared in 25 innings and has posted a 2.88 ERA, 1.000 WHIP, 3-1 record, and a 13 K/9.
The Mets still have more money to spend in free agency but these 2 players will help the 2025 season.
