Mets Take 2/3 From Twins

Coming off a series split vs the Braves the Mets continued their 7-game homestead in a 3-game series against the 58-46 Minnesota Twins where they won the series 2-1.
In the series' first game, the Mets bats were hot, scoring 15 runs and getting 17 hits. Pete Alonso hit the only home run of the day which led him to going 2/5 on the day, Luis Torrens went 3/4 with 3 RBIs, Lindor went 2/4 with 1 RBI, Jeff McNeil continued his hot streak going 2/4 with RBIs, and Jesse Winkers first game as a Met he went 1/2 with a walk. Mets starting pitcher Jose Quintana continued his amazing streak of great start, pitching 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 walk, and allowed just 1 run bringing his ERA down to a 1.98 in his last 7 starts. The game finished with Jose Butto pitching 3 innings, getting the 9-out save, and allowing just 1 run. The Mets would win the game 15-2.
In the second game of the series Mets starting pitcher Sean Manaea was on absolute fire helping the Mets win 2-0. Sean Manaea had the best start of the season, pitching 7 innings which is the 3rd time he’s done this, with 2 hits which is the 5th time he has allowed 2 or fewer hits, 0 runs for the 5th time, and had a season-best 11 strikeouts. Ryne Stanek got the hold by pitching 0.2 innings, allowing 0 hits and a walk, and Edwin Diaz got the save by pitching 1.1 innings, 2 strikeouts, and 0 hits. On the batting side, JD Martinez hit a single to bring home Nimmo for the first run in the 4th inning and Mark Vientos hit a solo home run in the 5th. The Mets won 2-0 improved their record to 57-50 and looked for the sweep the next game.
In the next game, the Mets did not perform as they did the past 2 games, losing 8-3. Luis Severino did not do well on the mound, pitching just 3 innings, allowing 6 runs, 6 hits, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. The bullpen closed the game by pitching 6 innings, allowing 2 runs and 4 hits, Tylor Megill, Danny Young, Phil Maton, Adam Ottavino, and Huascar Brazoban all contributed. On offense, Mark Vientos hit a 2-run home run in the 2nd inning to score the Mets their first runs of the day, and Fransisco Alvarez grounded out to second and Luis Torrens scored in the 9th to score the last run the Mets.
The Mets have a day off before they take on the Angels 3 times, the Cardinals once, the Rockies 3 times, and the Mariners 3 times all in 10 days and all the games away.
